JEE Main Examination:
Joint Entrance Examination Main popularly known as JEE Main is an entrance exam that is conducted by central board of secondary education to get admission at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), NIIT and CIT in various undergraduate program in the field of engineering.
JEE has two categories which is branched out as JEE main and JEE advanced. Dates for the exam have been announced. JEE Main offline exam will be held in the first week of April 2018, whereas online exam will be commenced in the second week of April 2018. The last date to apply for JEE Main is Dec 26, 2014, which is already closed.
JEE Advanced Examination
It is an all India entrance which is conducted for admission in various engineering courses. In 2012 CBSE had announced this common exam in place of AIEEE and IIT-JEE. JEE is conducted in two parts- JEE MAIN & JEE ADVANCED
JEE Advanced is for admission in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian School of Mines(ISM).

Admissions Through JEE
Performance in class 12th board exam.Additional requirement for mining and geology/ geophysics courses.Gender restriction for mining courses. Nationality candidates who are not citizens of India at the time for registering are treated as foreign nationals.
This exam is a national level competitive test and the competition is very high. But with the right approach and the hard work focusing in the right direction, it is a smooth sail. JEE aspirants are increasing in numbers day by day due to the avenues opening up in this sector. This can be largely attributed to the presence of opportunities created by the Multinationals setting up bases in the country and the avenues opening up in nations worldwide.
JEE 2018 Eligibility Criteria
To take up both JEE Main & Advanced exam 2018, applicants must be born after Oct 1, 1991. However, Schedule caste and schedule tribe student have the relaxation on upper age limit up to 5.
JEE 2018 Educational Qualification
- Applicant should have passed HSC or any equivalent exam in 2015 or 2016 or say Candidate should have appeared in class 12th in all subjects.
- Also, they should have studied a minimum of 5 subjects in which Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics must be their main and core subject. It’s mandatory to have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as part of their syllabus.
- Students who appearing for class 12th examination in the current academic year that is on March 2018 can also apply for JEE Main 2018. Only if they are sure that their result will be announced before June last week 2018.
- For JEE Advanced:
- To appear in JEE Advanced Examination candidate should be among the top 1, 50,000. 50.5% for general category, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST according to his/her JEE Main Score.
- Candidate should not have accepted or take admission at any other IIT or ISM or whose admissions were canceled are also not eligible. Candidates who were admitted to the preparatory course can appear for JEE.
Number of Attempts in JEE
Students are allowed to give only 3 attempts for JEE main exam and Candidate can attempt JEE advanced for two times in consecutive years
JEE Application form 2018
Online Application form is the main authority source to fill JEE Main 2018 application structure. Keep Photo, Signature, and thumb impression in a JPEG format along with the class X and XII mark sheets prepared before filling in the application.
Steps to fill JEE 2018 application form are given as
- Go to Official Website of JEE.
- After the Registration, Login and fill the application form
- Upload Image, Signature and Thumb Impression in recommended configuration.
- Check before submitting your application form as the details cannot be changed once it’s submitted.
- Pay application charge either by means of Net Banking, Debit/ Credit Card or by downloading e-challan.

For JEE Advanced
Candidates have to register online and then pay the exam fee to all SBI branches. The exam fee for GE and OBC male candidate is Rs 2000. The exam fee for SC, ST, and PD male candidate is Rs 1000. There is no fee for the female candidate in any category. FEE can be paid online or via Challan generated during JEE advanced application
JEE 2018 Admit card
Admit card of JEE 2018 exam will be published online after Mach 2018 for JEE Main Exam and Admit Card for JEE Advanced will be released later. Students will receive the admit card only if they meet the required eligibility and produced the right documents as demanded.
Students can get their admit card by providing their 12th roll number and the other details. Admit card is must to take up an exam without which students will not be permitted inside the exam hall.
JEE Exam 2018 Result
JEE Main Result and score card for each individual will be released on April last week 2018, however, the ranking will be out only in July 2018. CBSE will publish the answer key for JEE main 2018 before the result on April third week, 2018.
JEE Advanced Result will be released on June 3rd week and Answer Keys will be released on June first week 2018.
JEE 2018 All India Rank
All India Rank lists of JEE Main 2018 will be released on the first week of July 2018. All India Ranking will decide the admission of the students to the college according to the rank.

JEE 2018 Exam Pattern
For JEE Main:
As said earlier JEE Main 2018 has two papers. Paper 1is taken for the admission into B. Tech or B.E undergraduate course. Whereas Paper 2 is taken for admission into B. Arch. The student can also take both the exam paper 1 and Paper 2, if required.
Applicants can take up exam in two common medium English or Hindi. Students who take up exam at Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli can opt the medium of instruction as Gujarat if required. Likewise, Candidates in Maharashtra can also pick up Marathi and Urdu as a medium of paper. Students at above-mentioned states can choose English and Hindi as well.
For JEE Advanced:
The JEE exam will be conducted by seven Zonal Indian Institutes under the guidance of joint admission board. The performance of a candidate will form the basis for admissions to master degree. The examination consists of two papers paper 1 and paper 2 each of 3hours. Both papers are compulsory.
Paper -1 for admission in B.E/ B. Tech (online and offline)
Paper -2 for admission in B.Arch and B, Planning (offline)
Students have to choose their medium of instruction while filling in the form. The language selected in the form will be the final call.
Exam span: Total hours given to complete exam is 3 hrs. 60 min of extra time will be given to the student who are physically challenged and one who has 405 of disability.
JEE Exam 2018 Syllabus
Topic of JEE Main and Advanced will be same: Syllabus that covers JEE is the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics topic of 11th and 12th syllabus.
Questions: Question paper is divided into three segments as Physics, Chemistry, and Math. Each segment has 30 questions. On hole, it has 90 questions. It will be a Multiple Choice Question (MCQ). Students have to choose the right answer among the 4 given choice.
JEE 2018 Marking Scheme
For every right answer, four marks are awarded to question in all the segments. Totally it is 360 mark question paper that to be completed in 3 hours. There is a negative mark for a wrong answer. One mark is reduced for every wrong answer.
Note: Defence service(DS) category candidates are children of defense /paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operation.Two seats are available for preferential allotment in each Institute for DS category candidate, to avail this DS candidate must be in common merit list of JEE.
JEE 2018 Counselling
The seats in various courses will be allotted on the basis of All India rank, category rank and choices indicated by the candidate. The other institutes also use results of JEE. CBSE and CSAB are two different and independent boards, CBSE conducts JEE examination and publishes the merit list; CSAB uses the merit lists.
